Education and counseling can be provided about a range of sports related issues including:
- fatigue and recovery,
- hydration
- pre-competition nutrition and hydration
- use of supplements and/or sports drinks
- reaching or maintaining a weight appropriate to your event/sport which is also realistic and optimal for general health and well-being
Non-sports related needs including medical nutrition therapy for:
Children's weight management
Women's health including prenatal/antenatal and post natal nutrition advice
Nutrition during cancer treatment
Impaired Glucose Tolerance (IGT), diabetes
Cardiovascular disease including high cholesterol and blood pressure
Micronutrient deficiencies including iron deficiency
Food intolerances
Bowel conditions such as constipation and IBS

Tess Griersmith is a Melbourne based sports dieititian. Tess holds a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics, is studying Post Graduate Medicine/Surgery to be a medical doctor and has completed further training in sports nutrition at the Australian Institute of Sport and Anthropometry with the Victorian Institute of Sport. Tess participates in ongoing professional development and maintains a professional membership with Sports Dietitians Australia (SDA), Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA) and is also a registered Fitness Instructor with VicFit.
Tess offers a professional, up-to-date and evidence-based service for individuals, sporting teams, coaches and health professionals. As a qualified sports and clinical dietitian, Tess is able to provide individual nutrition assessment and counseling for sports specific and/or medical conditions.
Her experience includes working in clinical (hospital) settings, and community health centres and with a diverse range of athletes of all levels including Melbourne Victory Football Club, VIS Women's Hockey team, Trialliance and Gatorade triathletes, and Sandringham VFL. Tess herself enjoys all sport but in particular training and competing in triathlons during summer.
